Since many years, Lhotellier Ikos anchors its growth into an overall effort to sustainable development and this in all its activities. Lhotellier Ikos combines the economic, social and environmental aspect. Paul LHOTELLIER has decided to adopt a sustainable development approach within the company's policy as from 2006.
See here some examples:
> ECOLOGY
Within Public Works, the prominence given to gravel emulsion at a high percentage of milled material allows reusing aggregate fraction and bituminous fraction, avoiding the wastage of natural resources and the heavy carbon emitting industries (greenhouse gas). In fact, the gravel emulsion does not need the re-heating of bitumen, contrary to recycling of milled material in porous asphalt (special asphalt that drains off rainwater)
> SOCIAL
The territorial establishment of Lhotellier Ikos is accompanied by the local recruitment policy for young people. It also seeks to increase the percentage of women within the group. Every year some fifty trainees and thirty work-study contracts are welcomed to allow the recruitment of a younger generation to have a career within the group and to become future managers of the company. The maintained close bonds with the local schools allow offering younger students a possibility of insertion in the company. Professionals of the group Lhotellier Ikos are also teacher in those schools. To a certain extent, the generation contract already exists for a long time in the company.
> ECONOMY
The objective « zero waste » of Lhotellier Ikos is reflected in the material part by the setup of recycling platforms used for the recovery of materials designated to refill again the pavement of the roads. The sediment of asphalt will be converted in milled material; extracted noble materials are sorted and will become second life (used) materials. On the platforms of Argoeuves, Guimerville, Grandvilliers and the Recycling of the Epine, the recycled materials, black, granular, white or silty, allow to preserve the resource and to optimize the logistics.
