Reduced temperature asphalts: Less fumes and GHG via the ELT procedure

The laboratory of the group Lhotellier Ikos is working since 2005 with reduced temperature asphalts. The implementation is done at identical performances at 40 to 50°C below the traditional hot-mix asphalt.

All these advantages from reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), consumption of fossil energy, to the increase of comfort for the operating teams, permits a sustainable development.

10.000 tonnes of reduced temperature asphalts were produced in 2009. In time, the group Lhotellier Ikos considers no longer to manufacture this type of asphalt, to reduce that way a quarter of the emissions of GHG thanks to the "Enrobés Low Therm" (ELT) (reduced temperature asphalt) procedure.
